Henry Colburn was a British bookseller and publisher, known for his assertive marketing practices; he issued works by William Godwin, Mary Shelley, and Benjamin Disraeli, among others. In October 1812, William Hazlitt was hired by the Morning Chronicle as a parliamentary reporter. Soon he met John Hunt, publisher of the Examiner, and his younger brother Leigh Hunt, the poet and essayist, who edited the weekly paper.
